Privacy Policy
A plain explanation of what happens to the text, files, and links you put into Content Tally.
The short version
Content Tally does not require an account, does not use tracking cookies, and does not run any analytics or advertising scripts. Text you paste and files you upload are processed directly in your browser and are never sent to our servers, because Content Tally does not have a backend server that stores your content — it's a static site.
Pasted text
Text you type or paste into the counter stays in your browser's memory for that page session. It is never transmitted anywhere. Closing or refreshing the tab clears it.
Uploaded files
When you upload a TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, CSV, XLS, or XLSX file, it is read and parsed entirely in your browser using client-side libraries (Mammoth.js for Word documents, PDF.js for PDFs, SheetJS for spreadsheets). The file itself is never uploaded to any server we control.
Website link analysis
This is the one feature that does involve a third party: when you paste a URL into the "Website link" tab, your browser requests that page's content through a third-party read-only proxy service (currently allorigins.win, with r.jina.ai as a fallback) so the page can be fetched without running into cross-origin browser restrictions. That means the URL you enter is visible to that proxy service, the same way it would be to any tool that fetches a webpage on your behalf. We don't log, store, or see that URL ourselves — it never touches a server of ours — but you should be aware it passes through a third party before the text reaches your browser.
Cookies and analytics
Content Tally does not set tracking cookies and does not run Google Analytics or any other analytics/advertising script at this time. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts' CDN, which — like any CDN request — can see your IP address and browser details as part of serving the font files; this is standard for any site using web fonts and isn't specific to Content Tally.
